Gallery Protocol . Ready for Exhibition

Carrying on from the last ArtBizTips about (mostly group) exhibitions ..
Do:
- do have your work turn up on time, if not earlier. This is not only to show respect to the gallery, but to see the hanging of a show from the gallery point of view. If not all works arrive on time, this can affect the hanging positions, the potential to do the best hang is lessened, and you are not only impacting where your work might be positioned but are also impacting other artists work.
- do make sure your work is totally finished, paint is dry, glue is set and varnished if needed.
- do provide your work ready to hang/display and with ideas of display if your work sits outside the norm.
- do make sure your work is safe to hang.
- do fully label your work, before getting to the gallery. Title, date, signature and your name written clearly (This has brought me many after sales requests, commissions and further sales, just because the customer could see my name clearly and could contact me.) - If it is a small work with limited room, your name is the most important - you could also put a website or social media link if there is room.
- do check what the gallery requires in the form of Bio, Statement, Invoice etc. Do they want it in a particular format ? and definitely have all that ready prior to getting to the gallery.
.
I haven't written any Don'ts this time ... I'm hoping that maybe if you do all the above Do's, you might wipe out any Don'ts that you are hanging on to ... 😊👌
