Be Good to Your Galleries . part 2

Part 2 . This part will be focused on working around an exhibition.
Do :
- do your best work to fit in the exhibition brief.
- do invoice your work, prior to getting to the gallery.
- do come across as competent to hang your own work, offer to hang it (if the situation suits)
- do take your own hanging kit, basics like hammer, tape measure, level, hooks nails etc, these can be in short supply if it is a group show and there are lots of people hanging at once.
- do be pro-active, if you are a slow worker, or find it hard to be inspired, or don't get 'invited' to participate in shows etc (and you want to) .. start looking at shows that are pretty much hung yearly eg Matariki (NZ) Xmas shopping, Summer showcases etc etc. And if you let your galleries know you have some pieces ready, you are more likely to be included. Or you will be ready ahead of time when the invite goes out.
Don't :
- don't turn up late for the drop off date
- don't turn up with work that is wet
- don't turn up with work that is not ready to hang
- don't turn up with lots of verbal instructions for the gallery, particularly if it is a group show, or even just generally speaking, some galleries are dealing with 50 -100 artists, so write everything down, prior to the visit.

Again a big shout out THANK YOU to the galleries that I am currently working with 💚❤️💚
